Highlights: See the U.S.-Mexico border wall, “virtual fence” towers, vehicle barriers, and undocumented migrant trails for yourself.Speak with local landowners, land managers, and activists, and perhaps undocumented migrants who are attempting to cross the border. This also will include donation to the Border Conservation Program. Lodging: Brown Canyon Education Center, Buenos Aires National Wildlife Refuge and Stage Stop Motel in Patagonia. Friday, Nov. 20, 6 PM: Meet at Brown Canyon Lodge.Rooms are double occupancy.There will be dinner at the lodge followed by a program with speakers and discussion. Saturday, Nov. 21: Tour Buenos Aires National Wildlife refuge.Visit the border wall which cuts across the southern end of the refuge, isolating wildlife and gobbling up potential endangered species habitat.See several of Boeing’s “virtual fence” towers.Visit migrant trails, including death site of undocumented migrant. Saturday Night: Stay in Patagonia at the STAGE STOP motel (double occupancy) where we will have dinner followed by program and discussion. Sunday: Car caravan to ranches on the border.See miles of less-intrusive vehicle barriers, and drive the scenic Montezuma Pass through Coronado National Memorial.Talk to ranchers about the impact created by or immigration policy.Drive the high-speed patrol roads bladed along the border wall, and see where the wall has been build through a U.N. World Heritage Natural Area, disturbing wildlife and smothering archaeological sites.
