BULLDOZING OUR VANISHING SONORAN DESERT

The Sonoran desert we love is being bulldozed away by urban sprawl. Our natural heritage -- our children's legacy -- is being lost.

The Arizona Republic reported that we're losing an acre an hour to development, and only 2% of Valley lands are permanently protected.

Citizens can beat sprawl and encourage smarter growth by:

• protecting our natural open spaces.
• directing growth away from the edge of town, where it costs taxpayers more and developers don't pay their fair share for transit, roads, utilities and emergency services.
• planning our communities so that school, church, work and shopping are close by.

Citizens for Growth Management is a coalition of 50 groups and businesses working to ensure the passage of Proposition 202 on the November ballot. The coalition includes the League of Women Voters of Arizona, the Arizona Public Health Association, White Tanks Concerned Citizens, Inc., and the Neighborhood Coalition of Greater Tucson, among others.
