Vermillion Cliffs National Monument - Salient Point Access

Hike Access: An easy 2 mile round-trip dayhike in a remote section of the Paria Canyon-Vermilion Cliffs Wilderness Area.  This trip offers spectacular views of Marble Canyon.  Elevation 7000-7,200 feet. No water is available on this hike.

Directions to Trailhead:  Warning - this drive requires a 4-wheel drive vehicle, maps, and good navigation skills.  Roads can be sandy and difficult to follow).

From US 89A, exit at House Rock (just prior to ascending the Kiabab Plateau).  Take this dirt road north about 10 miles to a road that goes right (east) onto the Paria Plateau.  This road requires a 4-wheel drive vehicle. The road will drop into Pinnacle Valley.  At this point, go south to a steel stock tank, then head eat-northeast on the main road toward Joes Ranch.  Approximately 0.5 mile  west of Joes Ranch, take a fork heading south at a stock tank.  Remain on this road until it ends at a stock tank below white cliffs.  The turnoff at Joes Ranch is not depicted correctly on the topo maps.
