Sprawl/Growth:
local development fees; procedures
Our Position: oppose
Bill Number: HB2259
Sponsor: Biggs
Legislative Session: 2009 Legislative Session
It amends the procedures for the implementation of municipal and county development fees to make it more difficult for communities to assess development impact fees. It also prohibits new municipal development fees for 24-months after final approval of the development and prohibits counties from assessing development fees to schools, except for street, water and sewer utilities improvements.
Status
07/06/09- It never moved forward as these provisions were in the budget bills. Those bills were vetoed so none of this will become law, at least for now.
Action Needed
No action is needed, but do let the legislators know that you support growth paying for itself via mechanisms such as development impact fees.
