JAN 3 (SAT) 08:00 NEW YEAR'S Breakfast Meeting: at the Grotto Café,6501 Cave Creek Rd. in Cave Creek.  Bev Full, Chapter Outings Chair, will talk about some of the great outings we have scheduled.  We will depart from there at 09:00 for a “ C ” difficulty hike up Black Mountain.  Leader: Bev Full,, 480-221-2554

JAN 25-27 (SUN-TUES) CANOE OR KAYAK 20 FROM HOOVER DAM TO WILLOW BEACH IN THE BLACK CANYON OF THE COLORADO RIVER.  Camping at Lake Meade and at Arizona Hot Springs. It is rated as a "D".   Cost is $150 which includes rentals, shuttles, meals at camp, and campground fees. Leader: Bev Full,, 480-221-2554

at the GROTTO café, 6501 E. Cave Creek Rd. in Cave Creek.  Speaker to be determined. Depart from the Grotto via carpool for a hike at the Wallace Lone Mountain Preserve  rated as a “ C ” level of difficulty. FEB 16 (MON)  Vulture Peak Hike  (Wickenburg).  Four miles with 1000 ft. of climb, so a difficulty rating of "C".       Contact: Pete Weinelt

FEB 21 (SAT) 8 a.m. - noon Verde River Winter Clean-up    Help us clean-up the area around Needle Rock on the lower Verde River. The area is home to bald eagles and great blue herons and is a popular swimming and fishing hole just 14 miles from Scottsdale. Carpooling will be available from North Phoenix and Cave Creek. FEB 22-25 (Sun-Tues) Canoe or Kayak the Lower Colorado River.  Canoe 40 miles from Walter's Camp to Fishers Landing through the Imperial Wildlife Preserve and camping in Picacho State Park. "D" $150 cost includes rental, shuttle, meals in camp and camp fee.  Leader: Bev Full, 480-221-2554

MAR 7 (SAT)  8:00 AM  Breakfast Meeting:
GROTTO café, 6501 E. Cave Creek Rd. in Cave Creek .  Speaker to be determined.  Depart from the Grotto at 09:00 AM to hike the Metate Trail at Spur Cross Ranch “ * Easy ”.  Hike through a magnificent saguaro forest.  There is a $3 park registration fee that can be paid at the park's entry gate.  Contact: Bev Full,, 480-221-2554

MAR 14, 2015 (SAT) 8:00 A.M. To Noon,  Spur Cross Ranch needs a hand!
Spur Cross Ranch Conservation Area (the newest of Maricopa County's Regional Parks) needs some help restoring trails damaged in last Fall's rains and removing old barbed wire fencing. The park is home to archeological sites, Sonoran desert and riparian areas along Cave Creek. Carpooling from North Phoenix to Cave Creek will be available along with refreshments.  Contact: Doug Murphy,, 602-329-3690

MAR 29-31 (SUN-TUES) ORGAN PIPE NATIONAL MONUMENT Camping, wildflower viewing, multiple "C" hikes. Carpool 2 1/2 hours from Phoenix area to Organ PipeCactus National Monument on Sunday to camp Sunday and Monday. Meals will be provided and prepared at the campground by the leaders and will
include 2 dinners, 2 lunches, and 2 breakfasts. Fee to be determined [$35 or less]. Contact Pete Weinelt at, 623-388-2209, or Bev Full at, 480-221-2554.

APR 5-7 (Sat-Mon) CHANNEL ISLANDS NATIONAL PARK, CA:   Join a 3-day, 3-island, live-aboard tour of the Channel Islands.  Hike windswept trails bordered with wildflowers.  Marvel at pristine waters teeming with schools of fish, and playful sea lions.  Use your binoculars to spot sea and land birds and an occasional whale.  Cruise departs from Santa Barbara, CA harbor.  The cost is $615 which includes an assigned bunk, all meals, snacks, beverages and the services of a ranger/naturalist who will travel with us to help lead hikes and evening programs.  We can assist in arranging a car pool from the Phoenix area.  * Outings are rated for degree of difficulty and risk by the leader. As a guideline, outings are classified as follows: "A" More than 16 miles or more than 3,000 feet elevation change. "B" 8 to 16 miles and between 1,500- 3,000 feet elevation change "C" 3 to 8 miles, 500 to 1,500 feet. "D" Less than 3 miles and 500 feet.

Leashed dogs are permitted on some hikes and outings. Check with the leader.
